"A Course in Miracles" begins with the following introduction:
This is a course in miracles. It is a required course. Only the time you take it is voluntary. Free will does not mean that you can establish the curriculum. It means only that you can elect what you want to take at a given time. The course does not aim at teaching the meaning of love, for that is beyond what can be taught. It does aim, however, at removing the blocks to the awareness of love's presence, which is your natural inheritance. The opposite of love is fear, but what is all-encompassing can have no opposite. 2. This course can therefore be summed up very simply in this way: Nothing real can be threatened. 3Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God. This is a completely different image of God than the usual. You don't find this image of God in the churches of traditional Christianity. They placed Jesus on a pedestal, as an individual case, as if he was the only son of God and all others are bastards. Well, I believe in the Bible and it says that God created us in His Image and Likeness. I am divine! You are love, that's what this introduction refers to. Maybe you're not aware of that, but you are THAT and you will remain THAT. Nothing can change Who and What you really are. You don't have to invite love. When you become aware of Who You Really Are, the blocks for love are gone and it freely flows through you in the most perplexing circumstances. You know it doesn't come from your personality, the ego, because you even feel this love when the ego is screaming that the people it's directed at don't deserve it. Yes, for a long time that voice of ego keeps trying to regain control. But it's fighting a lost cause. Love is irresistible. You are irresistible! That is my experience and the experience of all awakened ones I have met. Many slide shows circulate on the internet that suggest that it wouldn't be right to be rich and prosperous. Or that love and success don't go together. That is fallacious reasoning, based on belief in lack and scarcity. The whole world wants to fool you. They could just as easily say that it's better to be sick as long as there are still sick people. Do you dare to be healthy in a world filled with sickness? Why wouldn't wealth, love and success go together? Ego tries with all its might to keep you away from your power and fool you into thinking you're not allowed to have something. You're always succesful. You attract anything you want, even while you use your power unconsciously. You wanted to experience a dualistic world of good and evil, a world of contrasts and that seems to work pretty good. Even in human terms you are succesful. Why do you think your subconscious blocks your progress? Because you have already achieved a lot. You stay alive in a society that has become incredibly complex. You manage to survive under circumstances that are extremely complicated. You drive a car, fill in difficult forms, operate sophisticated machines etc. Do you have any idea how difficult a toilet is for someone from the African bush? It's very simple for you. Your subconscious sees you as a ginormously successful being and thinks "let's keep it that way, why fix something that isn't broken". Oké, maybe you're not yet feeling that unconditional love inside you, but you know human love. There is probably someone who loves you. So you can imagine that people in India, Africa and all countries we think of as poor, will also have someone who loves them. Shouldn't they be rich and successful according to the reasoning of the slideshow makers? Well, it seems they starve together in love. At least, those are the images ego shows us. More proof that for ego the laws of chaos are the standard. Ego invents all sorts of things to keep you small and powerless. Wealth and success in the world don't mean much, but poverty and lack are utterly godless. Really, God doesn't suffer lack. Do you think it's His Will that we who are created in His Image and Likeness would? God wants us to be prosperous and happy. He has given us every means to be successful in everything we could want. He has placed the power for that end inside us. It's the power of our mind. It's often called the law of attraction. With that power you can design your life the way you like. And if you invite riches into your life through your magnetic power, you begin to wonder who you are, to be able to do this. When miracles begin to manifest in your life and you begin to realize Who You Really Are, at first you are disturbed, then astonished and finally you will rule the All. That last sentence comes from Jesus in the Gospel of Thomas (verse 2). That's why it's important to search for that which you experience as lack in your life. Everyone is naturally searching, all mankind is searching for security, peace, joy, love and influence, in short, happiness, but ego leads man to search where it cannot be found. Yet even that isn't wrong. Think about the way contrast works. By knowing where happiness cannot be found, you'll know better where to search. Then it's also easier to recognize. Because you could miss it if you didn't know what it isn't. And when it's your time to awaken, ego may roar like a lion, but your progress is unstoppable. You will become conscious, that's guaranteed, regardless how many obstacles may be in your path. Through the evolution of our consciousness there is a collective awakening in progress. And that makes it easier for you to become empowered and remember God and Who You Really Are.
